Victims may be Eligible for Restitution

Being the victim of a crime is a traumatic experience. Probation works closely with the District Attorney and victim support organizations to help with the emotional distress and financial losses that can occur.

Probation contacts victims of both juvenile and adult offenders to obtain impact statements which the court will weigh when sentencing the offender, Probation also needs personal loss information so the court can set restitution and victims can receive monetary compensation.

If you are a victim of a juvenile offender, the process is different than if you are the victim of an adult offender.  In either case, it is important that you respond promptly to any inquiries from Probation so that the Department can ensure your statements and request for restitution are provided to the Court.
