The Sacramento County Probation Department is responsible for the background investigation of criminal offenders and the preparation of social history reports for the Sacramento County Superior Courts. As well, the Probation Department operates and maintains the Juvenile Hall and several other juvenile facilities and programs.

The Probation Department is also charged with the supervision of adult and juvenile offenders granted probation by the Courts. In furtherance of this responsibility, the Department teams with various law enforcement agencies, schools, community business organizations and the citizens of Sacramento County to form productive partnerships with an underlying goal of public safety.

The Sacramento County Boys Ranch, provides a disposition option for the Juvenile Court.

Juvenile Hall
This division is primarily responsible for the operation and management of the County’s Juvenile Hall including the health and well being of juveniles who have been delivered by law enforcement or detained by the Court.

Construction & Facilities Management 

Construction and Facilities Management (CAFM) is an area of expanding responsibilities in the Department. The growth in new construction, the need to locate new sites for programs or new facility acquisition, and the responsibilities associated with existing facilities are far greater than merely monitoring construction projects. This division is also responsible for remodels/retrofits, facility maintenance and space planning. Within the Division’s realm of responsibility is attending pre-bid conferences, and maintaining a database/schedule of all construction/remodel/maintenance activity. They must assist in managing regulatory compliance, critical incidents, and timelines. They monitor regulatory requirements, including inspections, and ensure departmental compliance, as well as compose responses to inspections. They review and coordinate facilities management processes including; work orders (330 forms), repair and maintenance.
