SACRAMENTO COUNTY PROBATION PRESENTS
LEARNING SUMMIT 2016
INSIDE THE ADOLESCENT BRAIN: CONNECTING PROVIDERS WITH
RESEARCHERS
Sacramento, CA., -- The
Sacramento County Probation Department will convene a one-day Learning Summit
bringing together nationally recognized experts in adolescent brain functioning
research and treatment strategies with statewide and regional court partners, law
enforcement, and treatment providers. This event, focused on cutting edge adolescent
brain development research while bringing issues affecting youth to the
forefront of the discussion on the juvenile justice system, is an opportunity for
attendees to form cross-discipline partnerships, share resources, and develop
system-wide intervention protocols.
Sacramento County
Chief Probation Officer Lee Seale is looking forward to the summit, stating, “This event is an incredible opportunity to collaboratively
share information, insights, and strategies supported by national research so
we can all better understand, and therefore better serve, the at-risk youth and
young adults in our communities.” Building practical,
supportive networks designed to encourage discussion and establish new ways of
providing for the needs of our juvenile population sets the ground work for enhanced
access to paramount community resources, while supporting reduction of crime
and recidivism.
District Attorney Ann Marie Schubert, Juvenile Court Judge Stacy Boulware Eurie, and Assistant
Chief Probation Officer Mike Shores are among those who will facilitate a panel
discussion: Translating Knowledge to Practical Use. Keynote speakers include
Ronald E. Dahl, M.D. of University of California – Berkeley; Elizabeth
Cauffman, Ph.D. of University of California – Irvine; and Frank Kros, MSW,
J.D., COO of The Children’s Guild and Director of The National At-Risk
Education Network (NAREN).
