Juvenile Record Requests

California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 827 prohibits Probation from disseminating Court records, including probation reports, to prospective employers; however, records are accessible from the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento Juvenile Court, via Standing Order SSC-JV-99-021, which states access to juvenile case files is governed primarily by Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 827 and California Rules of Court, Rule 5.552.

All requests must be presented in person at the Juvenile Courthouse located at 9605 Kiefer Boulevard, Sacramento, CA  95827. Business hours are 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Juvenile Court reception phone number is (916) 876-7753.

Upon Probation's receipt of a request for release of juvenile case files from any agency (military, job corps, etc.), the assigned Probation caseworker will only provide the following: a statement of the department's policy, the Juvenile Standing Order SCC-JV-99-021, and if necessary, the record seal packet, which notifies individuals of their right to seal their juvenile record and details the Petition to Seal Juvenile Record application process. Requesting agencies may be referred to the Juvenile Court building, as appropriate.
