Juvenile Record Requests

California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 827 prohibits Probation from disseminating Court records, including probation reports, to prospective employers; however, records are accessible from the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento Juvenile Court, via Standing Order SSC-JV-99-021, which states access to juvenile case files is governed primarily by Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 827 and California Rules of Court, Rule 5.552.

Requests may be submitted to the drop box at the courthouse or they can be submitted via mail at located at 9605 Kiefer Boulevard, Sacramento, CA  95827. Business hours are 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Juvenile Courthouse reception phone number is (916) 876-7753.  The Court is currently offering appointments to view records by calling the Juvenile Courthouse reception at (916) 876-7753 and providing the spelling of the name, date of birth, phone number and the reason for the appointment. Walk in hours are 8:10 am – 10:00am and 1:00 pm- 2:30 pm.  Below is the link found on their website to the current standing order and the public notice regarding how to schedule an appointment.​

Upon Probation's receipt of a request for release of juvenile case files from any agency (military, job corps, etc.), the assigned Probation caseworker will only provide the following: a statement of the department's policy, the Juvenile Standing Order SCC-JV-99-021, and if necessary, the record seal packet, which notifies individuals of their right to seal their juvenile record and details the Petition to Seal Juvenile Record application process. Requesting agencies may be referred to the Juvenile Court building, as appropriate.​
