Probation Department Divisions

The Sacramento County Probation Department is responsible for the background investigation of criminal offenders and the preparation of social history reports for the Sacramento County Superior Courts. As well, the Probation Department operates and maintains the Juvenile Hall and several other juvenile facilities and programs.

The Probation Department is also charged with the supervision of adult and juvenile offenders granted probation by the Courts. In furtherance of this responsibility, the Department teams with various law enforcement agencies, schools, community business organizations and the citizens of Sacramento County to form productive partnerships with an underlying goal of public safety.

Administrative Services
	Administrative Services The Administrative Services Division provides administrative support to the Office of the Chief Probation Officer, as well as ancillary support to Probation and Institutional Services. Fiscal Services The Sacramento County Probation Department Financial Management division support services are Budget, Contracts Management, Grant Monitoring and Accounts Payable/Receivable.

Institutional Services

The County of Sacramento's Probation Department's Institutional Services manages the divisions of Juvenile Hall, Boys Ranch, Construction & Facilities, and the Youth Center Campuses. Carson Creek Boys Ranch The Carson Creek Boys Ranch, commonly known as the Sacramento County Boys Ranch, provides a disposition option for the Juvenile Court. Construction & Facilities Management Construction and Facilities Management (CAFM) is an area of expanding responsibilities in the Department. Juvenile Hall This division is primarily responsible for the operation and management of the County’s Juvenile Hall including the health and well being of juveniles who have been delivered by law enforcement or detained by the Court. Warren E. Thornton Youth Center This division is charged with management of the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center and the temporary Youth Center Extension at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center.

Probation Services

The Probation Department's Probation Services is responsible for Adult & Juvenile Court and Field Services divisions, and Community Partnerships and Programs. Adult Court Investigations and Services This division performs a variety of duties that assist the Adult Court. Adult Field Services This division is assigned the task of monitoring adult and juvenile offenders placed on probation by the Courts. Community Programs and Partnerships This Division manages pre-delinquent and early intervention services using a community-based, collaborative model of service delivery. Juvenile Court Services The Juvenile Court Services Division is responsible for the investigation and preparation of pre-disposition social history reports for the Juvenile Court as well as the processing of juvenile offenders booked into the Juvenile Hall and/or issued citations by law enforcement agencies. Juvenile Field Services The Juvenile Field Services Division is assigned the task of monitoring juvenile offenders placed on formal probation in the community, committed to out-of-home placement, and those released from custody on home supervision and electronic monitoring.
